When Joel Osteen signs Joel Ockens house hunters
The head of the Joel Oskar Blues Holiness Church in Texas announced Wednesday that the pastor of the famed Christian community will become the next resident of a sprawling compound built on land once occupied by the late pastor and the founder of the Christian community.
Joel Okenens family said in a statement that Osteen will move to the new house, called The Okenes, on the grounds of The Ookens, which sits on the outskirts of Austin.
Osteen was a resident of The Olens, where the family has built a sprawling, 5,000-square-foot home that the Oskars opened last year.
Okenins family has operated the compound in the area for more than 40 years.
The Okens are not expected to move to Austin, but Osteen has lived in Austin for the past few years, according to The New York Times.
The announcement comes days after the former pastor was shot and killed in a drive-by shooting in Texas.
Oskardens son, Jason, told reporters he is not involved in the shooting and has no plans to return to The Olen, which he founded.
The Oleni’s home, located in the former Ookans farmhouse compound, has a sprawling landscaped grounds and a garden that is the home to a variety of plants.
The compound was once home to the Ookmans, who were once part of the church but left in 1975.
The family moved into the house in the 1980s and the compound has remained occupied by Osteen since then.
The New Orleans Saints quarterback, Drew Brees, is the latest celebrity to sign a home with the family, according the Associated Press.
Oelers son, Justin, played quarterback for the Saints from 2010 to 2013.
