Video captures moments of ‘voyeuristic’ house invasion, police say
A video posted online on Wednesday shows police responding to a call about a house invasion in South Florida, where they found a man with his face covered in paint and a large black object on the front porch.
The man was taken to a hospital for a psychiatric evaluation.
According to police, a man in his early 20s was in the house on a Saturday evening when he saw a man he believed to be a neighbor walk into the house with a large brush and a knife.
The homeowner called police.
When officers arrived at the home, the homeowner, identified by police as the homeowner’s brother, told officers that the man appeared to be armed with a knife, police said.
The suspect then took the knife from the homeowner and threw it at officers, who returned fire, police and the homeowner said.
The homeowner then ran outside with the knife and the suspect ran off in a different direction, police added.
Police also recovered a large quantity of paint that was likely used to cover the man’s face.
Police said the man told officers he was a voyeur and that he was only there for a few minutes before he fled.
The man’s brother told police that he had no idea what was going on, police also said.
The suspect was arrested on an outstanding warrant, police told CNN.
