New Zealand home sold for $1.2 million after $6.2m investment

New Zealand’s most expensive house sold in five years for a record $1 million.

The 1,800-square-foot house in a leafy neighbourhood in the northern suburbs of Auckland was bought by an anonymous buyer from the New Zealand government for $2.2million.

The buyer paid $1m for the house in January 2019.

The seller, who did not wish to be named, said he had to sell the house because it was a “ghost house”.

The house is owned by a family who also owns the house next door in the suburb of St Helens.
